Why Write

I write because I love words and I have a story
not to please anyone but my own need to tell it.
If for some reason I end up sharing joy
Then it is a pleasure
But if you hate my writing
Don’t worry about it.
I am not writing for you.

    I write for many reasons; myself, expression, understanding,
    confusion, exploration, reaction, to heal and others, some unknown.  The problem is not writing, it’s writing well,
    writing in a manner which expresses what you feel, and conveying that so others
    may feel; and there lays the struggle.  Feedback
    is important on many levels as well, as it allows you to gage your work and
    feeds the torn soul of this writer.

    • Writing well is subjective. I find many well written things that leave me cold. But some others not so well written that inspire me for the heart behind it. I am not a scholar, nor do I aim to be one. I take both good and bad feed back with a grain of salt. 🙂

  • I feel the same way.  I never thought of myself as a writer but you have constantly disagreed with me 🙂  Your post reminded me of that quote from sister act “if when you wake up in the morning, all you can think of is writing, then you are a writer”

    True; if one wrote for the sake of other’s approval, it would be so lame and uninteresting; I think writers are people who have to write, theirs is a compulsion. The talented ones get read.
