I write wherever I am. I do not have to be alone or isolated. I am alone in my own head and in my concentration.
There are times when I go away to write and travel with my husband to a distant place. It is heavenly to do that.
We have gone to Sea Ranch, California lately and it has become a good place to write and stop and think. Sea Ranch is a beautifully isolated place and conducive to meditation and thought. I do some writing there but find it too relaxing to do serious work.
I think having been a mother has helped me with this. I could do most anything with my daughters around. I could tune them out when I needed to and just do what I had to do. It is the same with writing. I tune most everything out and just write.
