Continuing with my Meryl Streep month, this is one of my favorite movies of hers. If you do not like to cook, do not watch this movie. It will seem uninteresting. The book was a good decent laugh but Meryl Streep as Julia Child was awesome in so many ways. She was crass in some places, loud, inappropriate and delightful.

This was no beauty contest since the real woman had no physical appeal to speak of. Yet, Meryl Streep gave her a new life that gave me a joy for everything culinary since I love to cook. The time line between their lives and the parallel lives they led even at such a difference in time and age was delightful and well thought out.

Scenes from Paris delighted me to no end. Her Cordon Bleu experiences rang true. If it is true that she snubbed the blog chef, it shows even more of her crassness and the hard personality she portrayed in her old shows on television. Maybe true!

On the whole it was a fun to follow both lives. A fun movie.

This is Meryl Streep month for me. I happen to love the woman. She is a wonderful actress like a chameleon takes many shapes, forms and colors. Talented and personable, the woman lacks little in the star department.

This story is about a divorced mother of three who becomes her x-husband’s mistress. The shenanigans and trouble she gets herself into make for hilarity. Most definitely a woman’s movie. The scenes where she shares with her friends her intimate affairs are authentic and realistic for most of us women.

The story line is simple yet engrossing as she tries to manage her feelings for the old which could never be reclaimed to the new that she should allow growth. It is a smartly written story with wit and clever twist.

Not only do I give it a four stars but I also own the DVD. Go get one! Make your wife happy. Make yourself happy women!

Oldie but Goodie!

 

For the ladies who love a good light hearted love story, I offer an evening with John Cusak, the boy next door. In this lovely romance this wonderful young man falls in love with the geek of the year. She is lovely but very studious. He makes her laugh and that is why she went out with him and eventually fell in love.

 

To answer her father when he asked him what will you do with your life, he responds, “I will do what I am good at. I will be with your daughter. I am good at being with your daughter.” Or something close to that.

 

He loves her and wants to be with her in her success or otherwise. When she is humiliated and embarrassed, he stay with her. He is every woman’s dream come true, an honest lover and friend.

 

$$$$$ rated it high. Loved it.

Yeah yeah, I know. Everyone had something terrible to say about this movie but I happen to like it. My husband accuses me of liking every movie that I watch but that is not true. I have found several I do not like that much. 🙂

 

I found Wolfman insightful and very well done. It was not your usual just turning into a werewolf type of movie. The story was given thought and the characters came to life. You could actually feel for the man who got bit and his deeds.

 

Between Anthony Hopkins and Beneicio Del Toro it was a good movie chock full of action and interaction. Yep, liked it.

 

$$$$ let’s get serious. I tried to be truthful. It was worth it.

They say if you want to know someone travel with them. This is the story of a young writer who travels with her fiance to Italy. She finds out the truth about their relationship.

Also she gets involved in writing letters to lovers in answer to their pleas in Juliet’s name. When one such letter falls into the hands of an older woman, she comes to Italy with her loving grandson to find her lost love.

Star crossed lovers, travel and beautiful scenery make for a gorgeous movie.

Love this movie. Gave it a $$$$$ worth the money. Enjoy.
