The story of our hero Viggo where we are introduced to him and his pregnant wife and their young son. A story of survival under horrific circumstances. The world has come to an end and there is not law but survival of the fittest. With a child to protect the two move around trying for safety.

Cannibalism, murder, horrors are all graphic in this movie. But through it all, the man teaches his son that they are the “good guys”, the people who still have heart and carry the light.

It is a good solid story but sad and heart wrenching.

Under The Tuscan Sun

One of the best actresses around who gets little to no recognition in the ranks is my favorite Diane Lane. Not only is the woman beautiful but she is talented and spectacular. She takes on wonderful heart wrenching characters from different walks of life presenting women in a true light instead of on a pedestal.

Lane is an editor, reviewer in this delightful movie who is used abominably by her husband preferring a younger version. In the process he humiliates her by even taking her home.

When she receives the left overs of the marriage assets, she gets a gift to Tuscany and buys a home there. Life changes for her and she grows in leaps and bounds.

This is a simple story of a woman coming into her own. It is a chick flick if you will. A wonderful story of starting over and making a life out of ruins and heartbreak.

District 9 Amazing Wonderful

District 9 is an older movie that has not received the acclaim that it deserves with the general public. The derogatory term “Prawns” is used ot describe these aliens who are just trying to survive on this planter that they got stranded on. Their ship got damaged and they hovered over South Africa settling down in ghettos.
The government tries to move them and issue eviction notices from their shanty town since the city people are complaining of their presence in the middle of civilization. But they refuse and get slaughtered by the military. A government man gets caught in the middle accused of all sorts of collaboration.
As man and alien help each other, they overcome some obstacles and they survive.
We are waiting for them to return in three human years to help again.
Cannot wait for the sequel of this amazing movie.

From Paris With Love is Great!

From Paris With Love is John Travolta on Steroids.

He was his rocking amazing handsome wonderful self with all the arrogance that role required of him. An undercover agent who does things his own way leads to hilarity and conclusion with solution to the problems he faced.

This assistant to the Ambassador in France is undercover moonlighting and is called upon to assist Travolta in terrorists activity control.

This is a rollicking, fast moving movie that starts a little slow but as it picks up, it moves fast and furiously with the speed of runaway train. Drugs, humor, some crudeness on Travolta’s character makes this movie fun and exciting. They follow the trail of the terrorists and discovered the plot to destroy and eliminate.

Car chases, things blowing up, intrigue and humor, everything is covered in this wonderful fast movie.

Romance Never Dies Away

When you think, at least when I think of Jack Black, I do not think romantic, adorable or cute. I think gross, silly and funny but lovable. But in this movie Jack Black is not only debonaire but charming and wonderful in a most romantic aspect I have ever seen him in since he started doing movies. The man is talented beyond belief, he can sing and he can play the piano and now I know that he can be handsome and romantic. Will wonders never cease.

It does not hurt that the woman who shares the screen with him is none other than the lovely Kate Winslet whose charm and beauty covers all ill. She is love struck and in romance pain when she finds a place to exchange for vacation and comes to LA. The woman she exchanges homes with is the successful advertiser Cameron Diaz who is also having her own romantic meltdown.

Enter Jude Law and there is the complete cast of the wonderful romantic holiday movie to see every year.
This is the movie for women to get a glass of wine, pull up your chairs and eat some sushi while you wallow with some tissues in a few tears and some fun movie watching. Yes, older movie but one to watch every year or more. Adorable and lovely.
