Dear Rumcake,
Sameness is my comfort zone and dare I not step out of my shell. God forbid if I explore new things.
I stress when driving and get lost. I hate going to new and unfamiliar places trying to find my way looking or coming across as klutzy or dumb so I won’t take chances.

Now, I am not so much into the green thing when it comes to books. I may have books on Kindle but reading them on Kindle, well not so much.
Back to my point. So, if you are reading a book (and I will not mention said book) and you get to page 86 and you still did not get into the meat of it, then something is really screwy in this equation. Here is a waste of several pages that could have saved a tree.
Now, you try and stick to it since you are, after all, in the first pages of this mystery. Nothing so far has really happened and you are anticipating lots from the reviews and the hype. Still nothing.
When 300 pages into it, it starts to get a little better, you wrinkle your nose in disgust.
And here comes my Green Week suggestion. What if we all stopped this insatiable need to devour books in the raw and just buy online writing or even join the library. Would that be an acceptable solution to you all?
After all, if more than 80% of this book (which was made into a movie, by the by) is not getting you into the place where you cannot tear yourself away from it, what is the point?
You can put up with 20% of blah blah blah blah blah, but 80% is carrying the line too far where it is borderline garbage. You expect a mystery to grab you and not let you go. Not drag you along kicking and screaming.
If you think my idea of a library card or even online reading is valid, let me know. After all, we all have opinions like we have …… and they all stink.

I suppose being a gold digger and a social climber is not so bad. There should be no reason for remorse about being shallow and superficial.
You already like the bloke, so there’s no harm in liking him more, for his dough, huh?
After all, money will bring with it comfort and future security. It makes a man seem more desirable since he can take care of you.
It is not so much wrong, as it is immoral. I am not sure that there is a definition to be set to it. Knowing that about yourself, knowing that there was a shift in sentiment over something that materialistic should make you stop and wonder what traits you have that need tweaking and modifying, they need.
I would take a harder look at yourself. A serious look at your trifling sensibilities. Character is what matters in the end. Dig deeper into yourself.
Remaining with him will only make you dependent, weak and less likely to be able to survive on your own, in the future.
The problem with those feelings of liking him more, is, you will overlook serious problems because you see dollar signs in your eyes, ignoring the major issues if they come up.

Every one of us tries to keep a measure of their real self private. Honesty is the best policy and all. Yet, is it possible to be so candid about yourself that you keep nothing back? Maybe, but not likely.
Experience has shown me that opening up, creates a serious mistrust. As a teenager, I was painfully open about myself and my wayward ways. In response I got shunned and banned from many activities with friends. They would not dream of behaving the same way. “Friends” passed judgment, and quickly.
It created a level of mistrust, causing hurdles, I could not overcome. If I was so free with damaging information about myself, then probably, would not be able to keep a secret, about them. Thus, in being so open, caused the opposite effect, creating skepticism and distancing from the very person, I cared for.
A story was retold in prayer group, where they, “prayed for my soul” in sordid details. Appalling as it may seem, in the end, I learned, that if I did not want something broadcast, then keep it to myself.
No need to hold other people to a standard, that I did not hold for myself. If it was that shocking, then keep it to myself. Spreading rumors, even if true is an evil pastime, often done with no malice.
But, then it happens, that one person will be there for you, all the time, no matter what they’ve seen you do. They are with you when you mess up badly and are in need of someone before you fall; and they are the pillar that does, hold you up. You have a friend.
When it happens, that we meet that one person, who never shirks us, never closes the door on us when they find out who we truly are, it is a miracle. Most of the time it is the partner we live with, since they know us best.
We can be many things for a while, but ourselves all the time, long term. It is impossible to act all through a lifetime relationship, like marriage, when the chips are down, and the masquerade of attraction is over.
And when that person who knows you that well, knows all your faults and your ickiness, still looks at you with love, you know that you have reached that wonderful state, we call friendship.
